The National IRO Manager Partnership has produced this free e-magazine to support the work of its members. It offers professional news; good practice highlights; reflections on topical policy matters and links to articles to support continuous professional development as a IRO.
Welcome to the London Regional Page
Regional updates will be posted on this page including summary updates from regional meetings. The expectation is for each local authority to have IRO representation at each meeting. Failing this, our members should share an update via the template provided by the chairs.

The London region has a well-organized programme of regional events with clear lines of reporting to the elected Chair. Attendance at regional meetings is has been good but our most recent meeting had a poor turnout which we think reflects the number of changes taking place across London and IRO services. IRO Managers only usually attend and 2 IRO practitioners from the London IRO Practitioners Group always attend. IRO’s deputize when their manager is not able to attend.
Meetings are held 4 times a year and have allowed the region to maintain an eye to the impact of the changes to IRO services and to local government children’s services.
Unless otherwise stated, all regional meetings are held from 10.00 a.m. We aim to finish by 12.30 p.m.

We will be undertaking more work to build on regional representation and ownership in 2015 and the development of regional action plans linked to national priorities.
There have been some major changes in legislation and guidance this year. The region has discussed many of these, including the implications of the latest findings from research and best practice.
The following learning events will be taking place in response to local priorities and needs:
Feltham YOI Open morning for IRO’s 11th June 2015
IRO Bi London Conference 29th June 2015
This is in development. The London region is developing an action plan based on specific objectives set out in the partnerships national work plan.
