North East

Welcome to the North East Regional Page

Regional updates will be posted on this page including summary updates from regional meetings. The expectation is for each local authority to have IRO representation at each meeting. Failing this, our members should share an update via the template provided by the chairs.

Regional Update

The North East region is in the process of organizing regional events with clear lines of reporting to the national IRO group via the Chairs. Attendance at regional meetings is good and involves IRO Managers from across the region.
Meetings are held four times a year and have allowed the region to maintain an eye to the impact of the changes to IRO services and to local government children’s services.

IRO/Cafcass Development day:
In May two regional IRO/Cafcass Development days were held which including 5 local authorities (Stockton Council, Redcar & Cleveland Council, Middleborough Council, Hartlepool Council, Durham Council, Darlington Council) and 2 Cafcass offices (Middleborough and Durham).
Over 80 representatives attended and the event focused on the implementation of the Cafcass and Local Authority protocol for Public Law work.
